Parkinson’s Recovery

Specialized Parkinson’s Recovery Programs for Improved Mobility

Parkinson’s Disease can impact every aspect of daily life—from simple movements and balance to overall independence and confidence. Our Parkinson’s Recovery programs are designed to help individuals regain control over their mobility, function, and quality of life through targeted, evidence-based therapy. We offer two proven treatment options—LSVT BIG and PWR! Moves—each created specifically to address the unique challenges associated with Parkinson’s and other neurological movement disorders. These programs focus on improving strength, coordination, posture, and flexibility while training the body and brain to move more naturally and efficiently.

Our experienced therapists provide one-on-one guidance in a supportive environment, helping patients overcome stiffness, slowness, and balance issues while building confidence with every session. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been living with Parkinson’s for years, we meet you where you are and tailor each program to your needs, abilities, and personal goals. By combining clinical expertise with compassionate care, our goal is to help you move better, feel stronger, and rediscover confidence in your daily life.

LSVT BIG: Restoring Normal Movement Patterns

LSVT BIG is a standardized, research-based treatment protocol developed specifically for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. This intensive, amplitude-focused therapy trains patients to move with greater size, strength, and control—counteracting the smaller, slower movements often caused by Parkinson’s. The program includes 16 sessions completed over 4 consecutive weeks (4 days per week), combined with daily home exercises to reinforce progress.

Each session involves large, exaggerated movements performed through eight specific exercises, gait training, and personalized functional activities tailored to the individual’s goals. The goal of LSVT BIG is to restore natural movement patterns in everyday activities like walking, reaching, and getting dressed. Our certified therapists provide close, one-on-one guidance throughout the process, ensuring consistency, safety, and meaningful improvement in daily mobility.

PWR! Moves: Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery

PWR! Moves (Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery) is a flexible, functional movement program designed to target the four primary symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease that lead to loss of mobility and independence. This program emphasizes large, powerful movements that can be adapted for each person’s abilities and performed in multiple positions—lying down, sitting, standing, or even while walking.

Unlike rigid protocols, PWR! Moves allows for progressive physical and cognitive challenges, helping patients maintain focus, coordination, and endurance. Because of its adaptable structure, this program benefits not only individuals with Parkinson’s Disease but also those with balance issues, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and general age-related movement difficulties. PWR! Moves empowers patients to integrate functional, full-body movements into their daily routines, making it a sustainable and practical approach to long-term wellness.

What’s the Difference Between LSVT BIG and PWR! Moves?

While both LSVT BIG and PWR! Moves were developed to help individuals with Parkinson’s Disease improve mobility and function, their approaches differ in structure and flexibility.

  • LSVT BIG follows a strict, standardized protocol with eight core exercises performed in both sitting and standing positions, alongside specific functional tasks and gait training. It requires four sessions per week for four weeks, totaling 16 visits, to achieve optimal results and ensure adherence to the program’s proven framework.

  • PWR! Moves, on the other hand, is less rigid and more adaptable. It focuses on four foundational movements that can be performed in a variety of functional positions—from lying down to standing or walking—and is suitable for multiple populations beyond Parkinson’s, including older adults and those with other neurological or balance conditions.

In short, LSVT BIG offers a more intensive, short-term protocol designed to retrain movement patterns, while PWR! Moves provides an ongoing, versatile framework that supports long-term mobility and functional independence. Both programs complement one another and can be incorporated into a broader rehabilitation plan for optimal results.
